On tap at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours almost black with minimal cream head. Coffee beans and cinnamon in a fairly spicy aroma. In the mouth it is quite similar, cinnamon, coffee and treacle with traces of dark fruits. Finish is dry and fruity with hints of cinnamon. Jury is out on the tonka beans because I don’t know what they taste like ! This is nice, though the additives have tended to swamp the stout characteristics.

Cask at the Windsor and Eton brewery taproom. Poured a clear almost black colour with a round bubbly tan head. The aroma is big coffee and roasted malt. The flavour is moderate sweet and liqourice bitter, with a smooth, rich, roasty, tonka, coffee, light chocolate, liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
