Aggressive, yet majestic. Fluffy, but not without a bite. Bigger than big. Really Big Bird is the largest and most hop-saturated addition to our Small Bird Series to-date. We took Big Bird, one of the hoppiest beers in our portfolio, and dosed it with an even more ridiculous dry-hopping rate, resulting in a beer that is unapologetic in its approach.

Presenting a densely hazy deep straw yellow, Really Big Bird wastes no time in offering its bouquet of fruit-forward aromatics. Beginning on the citrus side of the spectrum, we're first greeted with pungent notes of pithy orange, candied grapefruit, and lemon cello. As the glass warms, a tropical character presents itself in the form of a pineapple and papaya smoothie. Earthy undertones, centered around a piney bitterness create a wonderful balance atop a creamy, full-bodied mouthfeel. We're going to need a bigger nest!

Pours mango tinged pear into a nonick. White head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Juicy melon and passion fruit aromas. Thick with hot caramel and honey upfront turning to dry, spicy melon, apricot and mango upfront before turning to a lasting earthy pine and pith finish.

Pours a very hazy, almost soupy, banana-orange, with mid-sized head. Aroma is dank citrus and tropical fruit. Flavor is juicy citrus and tropical fruit, with some moderate mid-level bitterness and a touch of hops at the finish. Soft and smooth mouthfeel. The ABV is fairly well-hidden.

Draught at Fenway, 5/27/21.
Heavily hazy/soupy with a small, moderately-retained, white head.
A bit more malt-forward than the DDH Mettle I just had, but not terribly dissimilar hop-wise. Juicy with a decent brace of acidity taking the shape of dry citrus and light pine. With warming it softens even more, adding more honeycream-like malt and plentiful orange juicy, mango and light pineapple. A bit of booziness, but not too bad for its size/strength.
Soft and creamy, though not off-puttingly thick in the mouth, it's again, sweeter and richer than many of Trillium's other DIPAs. Orange, tangerine, sherbet and pineapple interplay with mango and light pine on the end. Tight, low carbonation and a touch of alcohol with no aspirin or heavy resin.

Pours a beautiful opaque golden orange from a can. Not much of an aroma, but my smell hasn't been too good lately, hope it's not corona! Fruity when cold, as it's warmed I'm picking up more on some soap, even a faint menthol. A bit harsh in the mouth, lots of alcohol. I'm thinking I let this get too warm, we'll see what a cooler one is like tomorrow night. Good beer still.
