We made a double IPA with our friends at Het Uiltje. The plan was a simple one; chuck in a silly and irresponsible amount of hops, keep the malt and body light and what could go wrong? Mosaic, citra, Simcoe and chinook all contribute to a massive piney, resinous hit followed by tropical fruit and warming alcohol.

Can at home, picked up from RS HW, 15/06/17. Wasn’t planning on this juan tonight but had a pissant French red ... from a mixed Laithwaites box ... Think it was £18 or some such tosh so expected a lot more .. .mild corking. Red French wine is my 8th or 9th pick FWIW ! I digress ... hazed golden orange with a well appointed off white head that retains well. Nose is bitter orange, pine needle, sprucey wood, mango pulp, light spice, grapefruit. Taste comprises orange pith, grapefruit, pine resin, tropical fruit medley, light spice, light mango. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with aggressive come danko hop bitterness. A really solid DIPA ... in yer face hops ... if you don’t like extreme hop jizz don’t go here!

Keg at the Hop Locker - London. Pours clear honey-gold with a tight, creamy head. The aroma holds ripe citrus, dank pine, papaya, mango. Medium to big sweet flavour with meaty pale malts, oily pine, moderate bitterness, faint caramel, bread, more papaya, mango. Full bodied, chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Resinous finish, lightly warming, with more piney dankness, ripe and jammy citrus, gooey tropical fruits. Fun, in a punchy kind of way.

Can from The Beerhive. Hazy golden body with a medium off-white head that holds well. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of orange and mango. Flavour of tangerine, tomato juice and pine. Slightly boozy finish. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. Tangy and rich. Eye-catching label design too.
