Bottle. Dark brown color. Malt, but especially dominant whisky in the aroma and flavor. Hint of peat, dried fruit. Sweet. Not optimally balanced. Dusty finish.

At a tasting, thanks, smallish head, murky lightish brown color, woody whiskey aroma with some toffee, whiskey much more noticable in flavor, bitter alcoholic sensation and quite sweet. Not too exciting, overpowering whiskey character.

Amber beer, small head. Aroma is malt, fruit, raisins, whiksy, some smoke or peat?, Taste is the same, sweet with some bitterness.

Bottle. Amber color. Aroma: whiskey, vanilla, sherry, sweet, mighty. Taste: oak, whiskey, alcohol, bitter, very warming.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 33B/17D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L15022. AROMA: predominant slightly sweet ripe cantaloup melon aromas. spicy alcohol notes. medium-low malt aroma with toffee notes. very faint whiskey note. APPEARANCE: medium dark amber color and clear. medium ivory head with good retention. leg formation. TASTE: moderate malt presence with a slight toasted character from the barrel and peppery alcohols. slight woodsy taste with a faint tanninic note, almost vanilla-like. medium malt presence with a toffee character. very faint ripe cantaloup melon flavor. medium-low bitterness but malt balanced. finishes dry and with a slight whiskey note. PALATE: medium to medium-high body with moderate carbonation. medium-low hot alcohol warmth. OVERALL: a very good barrel aged barley wine, with less spirit presence.
