Roasty and chocolaty in both aroma and flavor, with a robust, smooth presence. Coffee and choclate with a subdued roast barley flavor that make this very drinkable.

Brown colour with a dense tan head. Very light for a stout-however. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Light-bodied; Mild sweetness and roasted malt flavour-fairly light for the style. Aftertaste shows some bitter qualities, full of coffee and chocolate tastes. Overall, a decent beer-more of a porter than a stout in my opinion. I bought this twelve ounce bottle from Chevy Chase Wines & Spirits in Washington, D.C. and sampled it on 21-November-2003.

Aroma of toasted cheerios. Sanguine red-brown color, with a light tan thin head. Flavor of roasted cheerios. Nothing remarkable here- just a run-of-the-mill dry stout. Average in every respect.

This is one tasty dry stout - intense toastiness all around, with roasted malts downright assaulting the tongue, and sticking around on the palate for a ridiculous amount of time - I would go as far as saying that the dark coffee and chocolate flavors in this one are almost up there with the Old Rasputin - this is that beer's less potent, but just as tasty cousin.

The flavor is sweet with strong chocolate notes. The color is dark brown and it has a fantastic brown head - looking like a stout should. The flavor is dominated by chocolate and coffee with sweet notes - all coming from a great malt blend. All in all a great beer.

Bottled. Black, or at least very dark ruby, beige, dense head. Rich aroma of licorice and chocolate. Dry and salty with clean but rounded mouthfeel. Fairly roasty, coffee and aromatic citric hops dominate until a salty, bitter finish. Excellent hop profile and decent malt profile. Like most US microbrews it's an extrovert, flavourful beer, focusing on loads of flavour than subtle complexity.

Fairly light bodied for a stout - more like a porter...even more like a dark lager, (oscura, dunkel, even maybe a schwarzbier?). It esp had those toffeeish, roasted, burnt flavors found in good German dark lagers. Clean nose. Dark but not opaque - a deep garnet color. Light head.
