Bay Ale is a copper coloured, traditional ale with malt and hop aromas and a smooth and well-balanced flavour. Hoppy, yet malt-forward this ale strikes a great balance. Using Perle, Bobek and Willamette hops alongside a strong malt backbone this beer is both for savoring and thirst-quenching, depending on your mood.

Bottle from Dicey Reilly in Ballyshannon. Appearance - deep amber to brown with a lovely fawn head. Nose - red fruit, wood and biscuits. Taste - more of the same. Some orange fruit too. A touch of popcorn on the finish. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry balanced finish. Overall - exactly as an Irish Red Ale should drink. Enough taste to keep it interesting while being extremely drinkable.

On tap at The Brew Dock, pours a clear amber with a small white head. Nose is quite floral, with bready notes and some light toffee. Flavour is fairly boring, with bready notes and dry hops to back. Not much character to this one. Leaves something to be desired.

Bottle at Craigโs. It pours hazy deep red with minimal beige head. The nose is soft, fruity, jammy, red berry and sticky fruit syrup. The taste is sweet, red berry, jammy, light toast, grain and mild bitterness with a dry finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty drying. No depth. Very so-so.

Bottle from Drinkstore, Dublin [120414]
Copper amber, slight haze, frothy dense off white head, some lacing
Aroma - brown toasted malts, slight red berry fruits
Taste of toasted malts, some caramel malts, dab of bitter zest hops under the brown malts, slight hint of berry fruits, some brown bread crust, bit earthy, brown leaves
Palate - medium carb, thin to medium body, soft mouthfeel, soft sweet malts, fairly bitter. Finish is more bitter, toasted malt and bitter spicy hop linger
Overall - A standard bitter ale, the least impressive of the Galway Bay beers Iโve tried. Not too bad.
