2 July 2022. At Dok Brewing Festival. Cheers to Anke, Eugène & Evelien!
Hazy yellow, small, frothy, white head. Aroma of ripe passion fruit, peach, tangerine, nectarine, dough. Taste has sweetish peach, just a hint of banana, sourish tangerine & a doughy malt body. Floral hoppy finish with unripe stonefruit and spicy onion, quite bitter and dry. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Aromatic but not very refreshing.

New England IPA by this familiar Catalan craft brewery, at Dok Brewing Festival, thanks Didier Dieu for sharing. Open and loose, egg-white, medium sized head, misty yellow blonde robe with vague greenish tinge. Aroma of banana bread, old bread crust, mango, guava, sweaty feet. Sweetish onset with sourish edge, quite a lot of fruitiness, banana- and yellow kiwi-like; softish carb, smooth mouthfeel. Bready maltiness, some light honeyish sweetishness leading to a tropically fruity finish, with very colourful, bright hoppiness providing mango and yellow kiwi aromas retronasally as well as a somewhat astringent, peppery, ‘concentrated’ bitterness in the form of a hop burn – typically considered a flaw in NEIPAs. Could use a bit more ‘oomph’ and less hop burn – Catalonia is still far removed from actual New England (think Tree House or Trillium), alas.
