Bottle. Color: Very dark brown, going towards black. Almost no head. Aroma: Boozy, sweetish Bourbon, fruity Cognac, licorice. Taste: Boozy, dark malt, licorice, caramel fudge notes, fruity Cognac, grape, sweetish Bourbon / vanilla. A lot of barrel influences from both barrels, quite sweet and boozy, well balanced. Medium sweet, moderate bitterness

Goodies for the nose Very well balanced sweetness for a beer like this Smooth oily texture with a fine mellow carbonation level Toffee, malty, vanilla, prunes. raisins, oak and mild cognac [On tap at Schouskjelleren in Oslo, Norway]

On tap. It pours a more or less black body, topped by a small dark beige head. Some lacing occur. The aroma is quite boozy, in a very pleasant way, both plain alcohol and more specific bourbon/cognac boozyness. Some vanilla and a nice oak touch, along with roasted to burnt malts, dark sugar, caramel tending towards heavy toffee, raisin and a hint of licorice. It's full-bodied, smooth and perfectly carbonated, with a good alcohol warmth going on. Quite a lot of warmth actually, but it suits the beer perfectly. The flavor is of course of the malty kind, roasted malts, toffee, caramel and dark sugars, with a touch of oak, licorice and vanilla. Quite a lot of dark dried fruits too, raisin and prunes, and of course some impact from the booze that were on the barrels. Lasting smooth and delicious finish. Definitely a sipper, the kind of beer I think is best enjoyed alone. Hope I'll see it again soon. 210925
