--Bottled. -- Clear golden, mid sized firm head. Fruity nose with some vegetables. Sweet with medium body and clean mouthfeel. Fruity with some cereals and bread, notes of hay and vegetables. Mid bitter finish.

500ml bottle. Crystal clear, amber colour with average to huge, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Minimally grainy and husky, mellow malty aroma, whiffs of silage. Taste is sweet-ish and slightly spicy, caramel malty, bitter hoppy counterpart with a minimally soapy touch, hints of caramel, a touch of toffee. Watery texture, smooth and soft, simultaneously minimally dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Rather expressionless aroma, decent malty and surprisingly bitter hoppy taste - OK.

Altenburger Festbier, Flasche von Nahkauf, Weimar. - Satt bronzegold, klar; schöner Schaum. - In der Nase stumpfes, süßes helles Malz, etwas fuselige reife Frucht, matte Herbe. - Antrunk schlank gerstig-karamelmalzig mit mineralischer Härte und ohne die weiche, füllige Malzigkeit, die man mit Festbieren verbindet. Solide aber derbe krautige Hopfenherbe. Durchschnittlich rezent, nur annähernd vollmundig, trocken. Im Abgang krautige Bittere und deutlicher Alkohol. Streng bitterer Nachtrunk. - Die Altenburger Brauerei liefert unter der Regie von Leikeim durch die Bank unterdurchschnittliche Biere ab, und auch dieses ist nicht der große Ausreißer nach oben. Trotzdem schmeckt mir diese derbere Variante besser als so manches fad-zuckersüße Festbier und ist auf ihre ruppige Art sogar süffig. (4.7.2020.)

50cl swing top bottle, Dark golden to light amber color with a short thick head. Aroma of sugary malts, light caramel, hints of raisins, mild hops. Taste is flattish, light sweet, balanced by some metallic bitterness. Light to medium body, soft carbonation, slick texture, smooth finish. Average in the style, easy to drink.
