Smell of caramel, some tar. Clear, dark brown colour with minimal beige head. Very flat carbon. Roasted, aroma of caramel. Medium sweet, medium bitter. Some coffee in the aftertaste. Oily. Taste ins strong to start with but diminishes quickly, leaving a somewhat watery feeling.

330ml bottle from Alko as Marsalkka Portteri

Pours pitch black with a tiny white bubbly head. Aroma has notes of licorice, burnt malts, and leather. Taste is quite boozy with notes of burnt malts, salty licorice and some hops. Finish is quite strong and warming with fruity and bitter notes. Okay, quite strong and slightly unbalanced porter.

33 cl bottle @ home as ”Marsalkka Portteri” from Saimaan Juomatehdas. BBE 08/2012
Aroma is fruity and a bit stale with very light roastiness for this style and ABV. Flavour is fruity and hoppy with toffee. Hints of metal in the finish and some roastiness kicks in at the aftertaste. Somewhat harsh palate. Thinner and worse than I would expect from a 8,6% porter. This is actually rather close to an export stout. But decent stuff anyway.

Draught at HBF 2010. Poured a body that’s almost black with an off white heat. Sweet malty nose, some alcohol. Sweet taste. slightly fruity, light caramel, some hop.... erm, couldn’t have written more vague notes if i’d tried. Thought it was nice in the end though.

Near black with reddish glimts. Aroma was sweet with roasted malt, chocolate and coffee notes. The sweet flavour had plenty of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and hints of butter. The butter actually worked fine in this one. Finished sweet and mildly bitter.

Draught@brewpub. Pitch brown/black, steady creamy espresso head. Sweetish and coffeish-toasted aroma. Burned malty, roasted flavor. Creamy texture, a bit sticky too. Long roasted aftertaste. A bit too much burned malts, but otherwise quite drinkable.
