Bottle. Unclear golden body under a big, stable, foamy white head. Mild in aroma, pale malt, hint of tropical fruit and herbs. Taste is really a big surprise and totally different from most commercial dominating standard NEIPA flavors. The malt is present and there are some tropical fruits to be found, but otherwise I needed some time to figure out the rest of the flavors. Watermelon, strawberries, white vine grapes, ‘’cold herbs’’ and quite distinct mint after a while. It’s quite delicate with a fine balance between the different tastes, good balance between sweetness and bitterness and the body is balanced as well. It’s a nice and easy drinkable, quite refreshing one, but far from one of the best IPA out there. And it’s definitively not some kind of mango in your face kind of IPA, but considering the main point behind a single hop this is quite interesting. As most of the modern hop varieties seems to focus on the fruity juice segment and the world of IPA becomes less and less unique, getting a chance to discover some more original and innovative hop varieties this is highly appreciated. So, focusing on experiencing something new and getting a tasty beer at the same time this is nicer than the score might indicate.

GYG 060822. Yellow-orange color with a white head. Aroma is citrus, pine, dust. Flavor is citrus, pine, dust, grapefruit, fruit, herbs, cellar notes. OK beer.

Bottle. An unclear lightly greyish yellow-orange beer with a dense finger-thich white head. Some lacing. The aroma is sort of dusty-malty, with a citrusy fruityness, piney hints and some herbal notes. Quite grapefruit juicy. It's medium to full-bodied, softly carbonated and semi-dry, with a very gentle bitterness. The flavor has some tropical fruityness, grapefruit and a touch of herbal, grassy and piney hops. Pale malts and a cellar-ish dustyness in the back. Medium length finish. Far from the most interesting beer from Nøgne Ø, but sure drinkable. 220806

0,5 flaske fra VP Nett, delt hemningsløst med meg selv hjemme en fredagskveld: uklar blekgul med ok skum. SMASH er en interessant idé, men ettersom Zappa-humlen er helt ukjent for meg må jeg igjen ty til verdensveven: Zappa hops have spicy aromas with intense notes of tropical fruit (mango, passion fruit), citrus, and pine. Additional descriptors include savory, mint, and fruity pebbles. This hop is unlike any other on the market today. Mango, furu og mynte er tydelige innslag sammen med noe som jeg forbinder med tequila. Definitivt helt annerledes enn de vanlige NEIPA-inntrykkene, og jeg lurer veldig på hva fruity pebbles er. Smaksrik, spennende og utfordrende.
