Bear State is a classic IPA brewed in the spirit of the West Coast of the USA. This is a massively hoppy beer, balanced perfectly with a touch of malt sweetness and an intensely citrus hop character to finish.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Clear golden body a thin white head. Steady carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of pine needles, orange and peach. Flavour of grass, sawdust, orange and apricot. Spicy hop finish. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Not as punchy as I expected but it’s very drinkable and well balanced.

Bottle as Bear State West Cost IPA, from Beermoth, Northern Quarter, Manchester, purchased and consumed later at Holiday Inn Express, Oxford Road, after Godspeed You! Black Emperor gig on Friday 17th April 2015 I have poured this into a green glass so determining the colour is a tad awkward but I am guessing golden with a white head. a touch of pine on the aroma with some late citrus (grapefruit) coming through. Sweet and malty but not too malty and a bit dry. A dab of tropicana about this as well. Like it. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. As "Bear State". Clear gold. Bubbly, messy, lasting, white head. Lovely, fusty orange. Peach. Pine resin. Something a little tart, along the lines of red gooseberry. The sweetness comes across as vanilla, and chewy toffee. Zesty, fruity, sweet, and smelling fantastic. Drinks soft, chewy, spicy, fruity bitter. Full bodied, but fresh. Finishes lingering, slightly chewy bitter. Lovely.

On tap at Craft Islington. Clear mid gold with lasting white head. Yes now us a nicely hoppy ipa. Almost on the radox side of piney. Not a huge aroma. Sherberty hops in mouth. Just a crash of piney grapefruit and lemon. Pretty damn good and a sublime ipa from an English brewer. Lovely. More please barman. Hides abv well.
