This beers story is a two parter. Part one: Here at Dugges we have a long history of brewing bitters. It’s one of our founders favorite beer styles and there was a long time when we hade at least one, often more, bitter in our range at the same time. Then, for whatever reason, we just stopped brewing them. Part two: One of the ways to get to sell your beer at the Swedish liquor monopoly Systembolaget, is to win tenders. A while ago they had one out for a bitter. Needless to say, we brewed a bitter, entered the competition for the tender and won! Bite on that!

Can. Lovely amber with a huge frothy head, dissipates slowly leaving lots of lacings. Aroma is fairly discrete, hints of toffee, caramel, dark bread. Taste is above all bitter and home brewish yeasty I’m afraid, only hints of caramel and toffee. Either there is sediment that got into the glass or this is a slight failure for a brewery this great. Medium body, lots of tiny bubbles.

Burk. Mjölkchoklad, apelsin men också mycket bittra örter. Inte helt stiltypsik men välgjord och törstsläckande. Gott!

Gott

330ml Can - Dark amber with a haze. Caramel, nuts and some hints of orange and apricot in the aroma. Caramel, orange, nuts, biscuity malt and some hints of berries. Rather fruity finish. Nice and reminds me of Johannas Bästa.

Clear caramel golden in the glass and a fine head Moderate intensity in the aroma Balanced sweetness and bitterness Mellow fine carbonation level Easy to drink Caramel malty, herbal and mild fruity flavor Nice refreshing bitter. Can some go to England and learn them how to do it…. [On tap at Pils in Gothenburg, Sweden]
