Green glass 37.5cl bottle (picked up at De Molen about a year ago) pours with a nice and dark body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The modest aroma has a mix of chocolate, coffee and dark roasted malts as well as faint dark fruity esters and molasses. The taste has a fairly nice creamy mouth feel delivering dark roasted malts to burnt malts as well as pleasing near oily rich dark roasted coffee note. Behind those flavors is a mild mineral sense and a touch of sweet dark fruity esters. Into the finish it picks up a nice chocolate-y goodness. I’m really liking this.

Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam
Pitch black color with medium sized creamy head, brownish. Mild aroma of roasted malts, talc, perfume, brandy; quite original. Smooth mouthfeel; flavor of mildly roasted malts, with a clear tobacco backbone; there is a mild sourness too; correct bitterness; the alcohol is hidden very well; the final seems a bit short. Side to side with the Not Just Plain Vanilla, this one has a bigger body.
Good, nice tobacco vein, otherwise a bit unemotional.

37,5 cl bottle @ home (6 months past best before date). Pitch black color. Dense, mocha colored head with long retention. Aroma’s from the glass is a bit dusty, wood (oak), vanilla, whiskey? Retronasal also roasted malts, sweet, dried fruit. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly sour. Alcoholfeel is strong, but not 10%. Full bodied, syruppy. Finishes with wood, somewhat dry, slightly bitter.

Rund, stark, vollmundig, gut! 7/14/12/14/12/14
