Deep red colour with thin head. Aroma of blackcurrants and white wine. Taste has elements of bitter sweet and sour. Intensely fruity. Subtle jam notes but also a more earthy, leafy funk too. Nicely tart in the finish.

Cloudy red with a lasting white head. Aroma of blackcurrant, green leaves and funk. Dry and tart fruity and funky flavour. Very complex and big flavours, but probably an acquired taste.

Another one emerging from the primordial 'Spelingen van het Lot' pool of 3 Fonteinen experiments, this time with blackcurrants; 75 cl bottle from Geers shared with Craftmember, Hinke and Steve on New Year's Eve. Medium thick, stable, pale pinkish off-white, moussy but dissolving head, hazy fuchsia-tinged rosy-red hue. Aroma of indeed strong and fresh blackcurrant, cassis, oxidized rosé wine, old cheese rind, wet old wood, dark green tree leaves, barnyard, stewed tomatoes, fresh thyme, lemon juice. Crisp, tart onset, lots of blackcurrant sourness, juiciness and spiciness with that typical cassis flavour remaining recognizable even if 'eaten' by lactic acidity and esters from the lambic; hints of gooseberry and rhubarb, medium carb, full and rather vinous, 'champenoise' mouthfeel. Bready core under heaps of lactic acidity, blackcurrant fruit acidity and - flavour, tannic woodiness and 'herbal' notes of thyme and tree leaves doubtlessly coming from the berries. Sweaty Brett accents appear in the finish as well, completing the lambic profile, which is dominant enough here - but matches well with a strong and familiar cassis dosage. Ends a tad earthy, but never loses that blackcurrant juicy-spicy flavour combo. Delivers what it promises and more: a funky, mature, complex lambic fully embracing its ingredient, with the 3 Fonteinen thumbprint all over it. Top lambic in my opinion.

Flaska från 3 Fonteinen, 21 - 22 b26. Mörk lilaröd med rosavit krona. Intensiv doft av vinbärsblad och vinbär. Samma i smaken. Väldigt mycket vinbärsblad och kvistar. Smakerna i de högre registren. Gott om än kanske något skarp.

Pours a dark, muddy redpurple to brown. Small pinkwhite head. Scent is earthy, berries, sharp and intense. Dry. Tannic fruits, funky, oak, very earthy berry flavors. Very much emphasis on the fruits.
