Pilsener (German style-ish) by Warpigs, tasted there from tap. Snow white, slowly diminishing and opening, but generously stable head; almost clear yellow blonde robe with somewhat khaki-like tinge. Aroma of old ‘herbes de Provençe’, toasted onions, dried out white bread, old grapefruit peel, white pepper, thyme, withering leek, background hints of dried garlic and marijuana. Clean, crisp onset, vague unripe green pear, restrained in sweetness but still some from the pale malts; gentle but sufficiently active carbonation, slick body. Bread-crusty and cereally pale maltiness soon bittered by a firm oniony, grassy-herbal and grapefruity hoppiness, adding impressions of wormwood, bitter bayleaf, grapefruit pith, tonic water and dried lemon zest, making for a dry and quenching finish. Very solid but also very hoppy even for a traditional Pilsener; tends more towards IPL thanks to the somewhat dank and citrusy hopping, in my view.
