Sampled at Nærbø Ølfestival 2013. Clear deep amber body with an off-white head. Aroma is mainly malty and gives a sweet impression. Flavor confirms the sweetness. Rather sweet on the malt side with dry fruit and not so much more, but that’s OK in this case. It’s simply a lovely sweet malty bock with a fine body, strong, sweet aftertaste and a hint of warming alcohol without being boozy.

500ml bottle. Dark brown, almost black with a big creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet malty and bread, Flavor is sweet malty, light bitter, some caramel and some kind of an unripe fruity freshness. Very pleasant and the alcohol is well hidden.

Bottle looks really good. Gusher! Beer in the glass dark brown, nice head. Starts intense malty, fine roasty, not too much. Some fine malty-earthy notes. Modest alcoholic. Warming-malty finish. Not bad!

LCRBM 2009. The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Starts fruity and strong, malty with notes of liquorice, finish a bit moldy. Dry-malty aftertaste. Not bad!

Dark red-amber color with small head. Light aroma of cereals. Some caramel flavor and light cereals, moderate sweetness, ordinary bitterness. Rather boring example.

A red-brown beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with light alcohol notes. The flavor is sweet matly with lots of caramel and alcohol, leading to a dry end, where the alcohol burns the mouth slightly. Nice.

500ml bottle. Wonderful clear, ruby red glowing, mahogany colour with average, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Malty aroma in typical dark Doppelbock style: caramel, toffee, a touch of malt spicyness. Taste is minimally to moderately sweet malty with identical characteristic, dry hop notes compensate portions of the sweetness. Typical, good.

(draught 0,5l) (as St. Georgen Bräu Doppelbock) Light sweet, plum aroma. Medium creamy white head. Light sparkling red-brown color. Medium sweet, plum, fruity taste. Medium body. Fizzy. Astringent finish. Very good beer. High alcohol level is very good covered, almost not detectable. Dangerous ;-)

Bottle(@Pivni rozmanitost, Praha): Deep ruby-amber coloured, clear, persistent tanned creamy head, not too sweet fruity - mainly dried fruits - and toasty nose, rounded by a good dry bitter hoppy touch; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied and soft; chocolatey traces in the solid and smooth malty and hoppy finish. Another goody from great Buttenheim...
Earlier Rating: 5/3/2007 Total Score: 3.6
Bottles: Very dark amber, almost "black" coloured, small off-white head with a good lace; delicate dark-malty, dark fruity nose with a tinge of metal; solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied, soft MF; drier malty and bitter finish. A weel crafted session Bock..... (one year old version: a bit more complex nose with chocolatey flavours, smooth MF; chocolate, cacao in the finish with a vinous tinge. A very well rounded Bock, that ages well. 7/3/8/4/16)

50cl Bottle, thanks Bierkoning! Clear ruby brown colour, light beige head. Aroma of sweet dark fruity malts, burnt caramel, raisins. Flavour is sweet, malty, dark fruits, raisins, hint of chocolate, no real roast though, light bitterness in the finish, hint of alcohol. Medium-bodied. Typical German doppelbock, expected just a bit more from this brewery.
