Voodoo Ranger has unearthed world class hops packed with big notes of citrus, stone fruit and a refreshing, bitter bite. At 8.1%, hold on tight.

Dark amber with a large foamy yellow white head that lingered and left great lacing. Bitter, piney and fruity. Long finish. Medium body.

Kind of sad New Belgium has been essentially reduced to these half-assed Voodoo Ranger IPAs; they used to house an inspired, diverse portfolio, and now all we get are repetitive, mediocre hop bombs. Sure, blame the market, not the brewer, but fuck it, I'll blame both. These Voodoo Ranger beers are lowest-common-denominator dreck. Hop Raider is no exception.

Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma is grapefruit and other citrus. I can tell this is going to be a bitter beer. Flavor is citrus hops a big sweet caramel malt with yes it's plenty bitter. Finish leaves some bitterness on the tongue. Pretty good old school IPA.

tap at brewery in Fort Collins. Decent big west coast IPA - bitter and bold.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear gold with a full finger of beige head that dissipates. Nice lacing down the glass. Fresh squeezed citrus, pineapple and muscat aromas on the nose. More of the same on the palate with nice gooseberry and starfruit flavors next to the citrus. Light piney, pithy bitterness on the finish. I like this.

Can from the grocery store - clear copper - I will give them credit for making a more classic American ipa rather than a hazy - hoppiness is zesty, peppery, and assertively bitter - citrus, peach, white grape - moderate sweetness with a little vanilla in the finish - good, but not standout.
