Can split at the Black Iris taproom, Notts get together, 07/07/23. Black with a tan cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is chocolate, toffee fudge, dark malts, biscoff tones, toasted brown sugars. Taste comprises caramel, spice, light herb, mellow roast, spice, trace of nutmeg, coffee hint. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced spike of alcohol. Fun impy stout.

Shared 440ml can at Black Iris brewpub. Black and opaque with a loose ring of beige head. Slate, caramel, black bread in the aroma. Sweet taste, some intense bitterness nearer to the finish. Notes of salted caramel. Full syrupy body, low carbonation. A very decent drop.

Keg pour at The 14th Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival, Brewery Bar. Shared with Finn on the first day of the festival. Filmy layer leaving spotty lacing behind, pitch black body. Roasted chocolate malts with some spices on the nose. Caramel-chocolate taste joined by a slightly disturbing ginger bite. Roasted spiced malty ending. Satisfying. (Nottingham 12.10.2022).

Can from The Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Black pour with a tan head. Nose is dark fruits, cinnamon, cola, light coffee notes. Taste is cola, cinnamon, liquorice. Cola- liquorice concoction. Interesting but not expressively tasty.
