Nøgne Ø Jonah’s Lift has matured on fantastic barrels from Arcus who have previously held «Opland small batch beer cask». The bar-rels are original sherry barrels that have previously matured aquavit, Nøgne Ø Imperial Rye Porter and again aquavit. We filled them with the best we have to offer in the form of a massive imperial stout

330ml bottle. Heavy, slightly stingy and roasty with some molasses, soy, syrup, coffee, licorice and earthiness, hints of booze and alcohol. (Bottle, 0.33 l, thanks tiong, at Arde, 20221021) The beer poured oily and black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had wood, burnt malts and alcohols. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, wood, alcohols, vanilla, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was boozy, ashy and bitter. A brew clean barrel ageing but the result was a boozy mess.

Can at small tasting with Johnny, TomH and Roel. Opaque pitch black color, virtually no head. Aroma is heavy booze, heavy barrel aging. Flavor is malts, boozy, malt and booze bitterness, but also some sweetness in there. Heavy but not bad. A full bottle though will be tough I think.

Fles geprobeerd bij Addictee2craftBeer met Roelzie, Keukeman en Benzai. Het is een diep donkerbruin tot zwart bier met een dun laagje beige schuim. Het heeft een gebrande moutige geur met tonen van anijs en sinaasappel. De smaak is vol, gebrande mout, gedroogd fruit, sinaasappel en hout.

Black with dark creamy head. Aroma of dark malts, wood, dark brown sugar and booze. Taste is similar but has a slightly savoury element too and very intense molasses in the aftertaste. Very warming, certainly rich and luxurious too.

0.33 l bottle shared with Ogi at Ambasada. Zagreb. Dark brown to black, small beige head. Molasses, fruity and roasty aroma, dark fruit, hints of leather, caramel, dried fruit and alcohol. Quite complex. Sticky dried fruit flavour, figs, molasses, toasty, roasty, very sweet, liquorice. oily texture strong, sticky, medium body.
