Nøgne Ø Jonah’s Lift has matured on fantastic barrels from Arcus who have previously held «Opland small batch beer cask». The bar-rels are original sherry barrels that have previously matured aquavit, Nøgne Ø Imperial Rye Porter and again aquavit. We filled them with the best we have to offer in the form of a massive imperial stout

Black with a brown head - DArk malt aroma with chocolate and wood barrel aroma as well - Dark malt body with chocolate and wood barel flavours - The malt flavours and some wood goes into the finish with some alcohol heat - This was real good

Shared bottle at Apotekergaarden, Grimstad. Pours dark brown to black with little light brown head. Aroma of ethanol, ripe cherries, dark chocolate. Tastes slightly sweet with balancing bitterness. Medium bodied, alcoholic warmth.

Bottle shared with my brother! Pours a deep dark black, basically no head. Aroma is licorice, tobacco, leather, lots of chocolate, some burnt caramel. Medium to full body. Flavour is quite dry, lots of chocolate, spices, licorice, leather, tobacco. The aquavit makes this dry and boozy, very interesting, an odd expression, but nice.

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm, 5 Nov 2022) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of oak wood, aquavit, coffee and dark chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, chocolate, oak wood, aquavit, citrus, herbs and a mild roasty bitterness in a warming and vinous finish. Full body, sweet. Heavy, boozy and sweet, but really rich and tasty with a generous aquavit character. Great beer!

Jeg tar en liten forhåndsfeiring hjemme av 70-års dagen med denne 0,33 flasken (nr. 6732 av i alt 7300): nesten kølsvart med tett lysebrunt bruseskum som imidlertid forsvinner raskt. Vidunderlig, sherryvinøs aroma og smak av mørke dessertsjokolader med bringebær- og bjørnebærfyll blandet med litt lakris, fiken, vanilje og knekk/brente mandler. Det hele innbakt i en saftig og mørk sjokoladekake. Hedonisten i meg våkner, og jeg tenker at med et moderat men jevnlig inntak av slik høykvalitets primærprofylakse kommer jeg nok til å kunne feire 80-års dagen også. Velvære og mental helse i hver dråpe. Life is indeed good.
