Bottle 0,33ltr: Almost surprised by the white sticker on the back of the bottle, I thought that was the normal version of the brewery ’t IJ Vlo. This is an anniversary version of the Beer Store Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Hazy brown coloured beer with an American hoppy appearance, taste of coriander and an good sweet bitternesh.

Bottle. Amber color. Pepper, nutmeg and citrus in the oily hoparoma. Strong hopbitter flavor with oily hops, nutmeg, grapefruit and lots of white pepper. Just a hint of alcohol. Licorice in the aftertaste. Excellent.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein minimal trübes bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig süß, alkoholisch, belgische Hefe. Geschmack sehr malzig alkoholisch, fruchtig, würzig

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 08/2011
Very foamy stuff. Rather earthy aroma with some sour notes and hints of spices. Flavour is really spicy, sour and somewhat tart with earthy notes. Belgian ale with really stinging spices – and a ’t IJ twist.

Thanks to bierkoning for that one. Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass amber coloured, huge head. Starts very, very spicy and yeasty, more and more dry, fruity and a bit sourish. Finish almost a bit salty, also intense bitter background. A bit too unbalanced finish.

Hazy dark orange color, small white head. Smell again not good, as is the original. Smell spices, little fruit, yeast and malts. Taste is ok, but again not much better then the original Vlo. Bit dissappointing.

33cl bottle from Bierzwerg. Poured hazy, brownish color with a frothy, creamy steady head. Aroma is brett, barnyard notes, fruity, spicy, quite complex. Creamy, oily mouthfeel. Flavor is similar, yeast, slight fruitiness, quite hoppy. Finish is bitter and fruity. Not much if any alcohol detected. Really nice beer.

Chesnut brown beer with a very big, long lasting and beige head. Aroma is very interesting, green apples, dark fruits, earthy sourness and some parfume. Taste is slightly roasted and fruitfull, apples and nice bitterness; there are Orval like flavours in the taste. Medium bodied, lots of carbonation, fresh to drink and it fitts nicely into this beer. Very interesting, different beer, reminds Orval.
