A mixed fermentation beer with Nitra grapes aged in oak barrels for 18 months. Nitra is a cabernet-type of local grape varietal originally bred in Slovakia. It is very sparsely cultivated nowadays. The year 2020 was undoubtedly a tough one and full of unexpected events for many. Just as an old grower was faced with a challenge to sell his crop, since demand was near to none that year, I was offered to make use of it. This late harvest, early November!, very ripe berries were then put to macerate in a barrel aged beer. This one could not be more different from “Pinots” for example. Nitra grapes have a pretty thick skin and provide a ton of colour and tannins! It was then carefully blended and is funkier and true to this unique varietal.

Bottle sample at a Leo Cell's tasting at Porter & Sons. Deep red, pinkish foam. Grape must, grapes, minerals, sulhur note, sourish, sweetish note. Very good.

Appearance: Red colour with a pink head.

Body: Medium body, low carbonation.

Bottle from the source. Hazy burgundy with pinkish head. Loads of grapes, a bit vegetal and green like they were not de-stemmed. Some misc red fruit, some oak.

Bottle at Salon piva. Thin body, rather high carbonation. Med-high sourness, medium tartness, nice combo of bacteria, funk is satisfying both in complexity and nice assertive strength. Light sweetness. Moderate grape fruitiness and a bit of woody flavour finish it off well. Very easy drinking, ABV hidden well too. Great.

Flaska från Jiri. Mörk rödlila med rosavit krona. Först lite stökig i både doft och smak, men lägger sig fint efter en stund i glaset. Mörka övermogna druvor, jordgubb, lätt körsbärston, lätt jordig ton, snällt kryddigt, tanniner, fat. Tuffast ikväll. Saknar möjligen en gnutta elegans, men också gott med variationen. Helt rätt öl att avsluta med.
