Nice classic stout, not imperial. But very nice charcoal roast dominating, even quite unique. Lots of flavour and depth for the abv. Bier konig Amsterdam

Draught @ SKAAL Sønderborg. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy tan head. Clear aroma of malt, with notes of coffee and caramel, and touches of yeast. Bitter, roasty flavour with notes of yeast and touches of caramel malt. Roasty and coffeelike aftertaste. Decent. Not watery, which is one of the most significant features og a good stout for me.

Bottle from Geers, Oostakker. Pours hazy black with a stable, foamy, dark beige head. Aroma of coffee roast, dark chocolate, burnt toast, earth, roasted hazelnut, chestnut, tobacco. Taste has sweetish dark fruit, milk chocolate, brown bread & nuts, quite bitter core of coffee roast & earth pairing with an almost leathery umami note. Dry, earthy hoppy, very roasted finish, leaning towards espresso & tobacco with creamy chocolate in the back. Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Not yet 'Imperial' but provides enough Stout qualities, nice.

Cool pull top! Rocky tan head left a cover on a jet black still body. Malt & roasted aroma. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated with a clean back. Roasted, nutty, berries, tobacco & malt tastes with a bitter tangy finish. Nice!

'Imperial' stout at only 6.5% ABV, you don't see that very often these days... Bottle from Geers. Mousy, thick, regularly shaped, membrane-lacing, mocha-beige head on a pitch black beer with less of a millimetre of burgundy visible around the edges. Aroma of coffee cream, 'Haagse hopjes', cold cappuccino, melting toffee, pecan nut purée, black peppercorns, 'blood', hints of burnt raisins, toast, marmite, mocha ice cream, nutmeg, bitter chocolate. Sweetish onset but very cleanly so, slight sourish touch and very faint gravy-like umami, hints of dried blueberries, apple peel and fig, fizzily carbonated but not too harsh in that respect, smooth oily body. Toffeeish, walnutty and caramelly malt body with 'blood'-like metallic touch, more coffeeish and roasty in the end but remaining smooth, with a creamy, mildly spicy, bittersweet finish; the coffee-like bitter roastedness does linger about in the end, laced with a dash of peppery hops, but a sweeter chocolatey and caramelly aspect remains equally strong. I would not call this an 'imperial' stout, rather a creamy 'double' stout if it must have a style designation, with a 'noble' European hop profile and a pleasant creaminess to it. More than anything, though, this is very much Porterhouse, solid and rounded, with a high degree of drinkability. A bit of a special one, but very accessible at the same time. Lovely.

Jet-black beer with a deep dark beige head, bit irregular, shards of lace. Chocolate & mocha, vanilla chocolatewaffles, sweet nuts. Taste however, is bitter-ish and quite dry, ashy even, tobacco, hops. Dry coffee, rather than mocha, only the finish sporting a little bit of malts, coffeecookies. Very thick, chewy consistency, despite the dryness in flavour. Mild carbonation. Strange discrepancy between nose and taste. Usually that's not very agreeable, but here it is not disturbing. Generally it is not what one expects from an Irish stout.

Sampled from the tap at Porterhouse Temple Bar. Pours black with a light brown head head that lasts throughout and laces. Aroma has dark grains and licorice with some earthy roast supporting. Flavor has earthy roast and licorice with a touch of sweet dark grains backing.

Bottle shared with my dad. Pours almost pitch black with a thin shortlasting light brown head. Aromas og coffee and chocolate but a pretty weak smell in general. Strong taste of slightly roasted chocolate and coffee. Slight sweetness. Watery feel to it that sadly makes it quite boring.
