Pours black, no real head. Scent is full, chocolate, mildly herbal. Taste is sharp, chocolate, cinnamon, peppers (heath), roasty. Rather ashy. Ends a bit hot by the pepper. OK. A bit unbalanced to me.

Swedish imperial stout flavoured with roasted peanuts and chili peppers, sampled at Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2022. Mocha-beige, moussy, rather rapidly dissolving head, ink black robe. Aroma of espresso, bitter chocolate, cigar ashes, wet toast, burnt pipe tobacco, roasted peanuts indeed but with the usual sweetness of peanuts all but gone, whisky. Dried fig and dried blackberry notes in the onset, low in sweetness but still some ripe pear associations, light sourish edge, medium carb; full, oily, viscous body. Toffeeish, roasted-walnutty and bitter black-chocolatey core, mouth-filling with some syrupy fig jam-like effect on top, evolving into full-fledged roasted, coffeeish bitterness, merging with a peppery hop aspect and of course the pepperiness of the chilies. The toasted peanuts blend in with the roasted malts and accentuate them beautifully, while whisky-like alcohol connects everything in the end. Very intelligently constructed stout, seemingly old school due to the roasted peanuts accentuating the roastiness and the chilies accentuating the hop bitterness - I wish I had a few bottles of this potent but very clever stout at home.

12/XI/22 - on tap @ Billie’s Craft Beer Fest (day 2), BB: n/a (2022-1572) Thanks to all for sharing today’s beers!

Clear dark purple brown to almost black beer, practically no head. Aroma: very malty, grains, hay, cow fodder. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body, creamy texture. Taste: surprisingly sourish start, dry, good roast, peanuts all right, spicy, dry, a bit weird. Aftertaste: very roasted, dry, spicy, deep roast, charcoal, a bit sourish, lots of dark chocolate, decent beer! Not getting any chillies though...
