Imperial Amber Ale with orange peel, grains of paradise & coriander.

Our brewers developed a special new ale that commemorates the past, revels in the present, and looks confidently to the future. 25th Anniversary Ale is an imperial amber ale that conveys a traditional Belgian sweetness, balanced with spicy citrus notes. This fine amber ale pours coppery brown with a billowy cap, notes of lemon, and white pepper flakes that are present straight away. At first sip there is a presence of sweet maltiness, that is refined by late additions of Cascade hops, resulting in a dry balanced finish.

Sip and enjoy what 25 years of brewing amounts to.

I like the things Ommegang does, 25th Anniversary, I'm glad they are around. This 12 oz. bottle was bought today at Mr. T's, my close-by beer shop. I selected the Teku glass for tonight's tastings, the bottle is opened and I pour. A dark copper liquid with a prestigious head of light tan foam, certainly some potential for lacing. A fine nose, I determine ripe fruit and some spiciness. The taste is a mixture of styles and that can be all right. An amber ale base, normally fairly innocuous, but this time charged with an obvious Belgian influence. The coriander comes through, citrus, plums, bread, malt, a significant sweetness and a lesser bitterness. Not my favorite from the brewery but still good.

Bottle from J's. Pours a mostly clear amber color with a finger of off-white, beige head that lingers. Toasted malt, caramel and Belgian yeast aromas with orange zest and peppercorn on the nose as it warms. Palate is very similar with nice lingering winter warmer spice notes. Peppercorn, citrus zest and toasted caramel and date on the finish.

Murky brown with a large foamy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. Metallic with caramel and vague spices. Long finish. Medium body. Not good.

The aromas are the standard Belgian dubbel . Flavors are like nose, spicy, yeasty with dark mold, a bit of toast and good stuff

Pour is a dark amber with a huge white head. Aroma is tons of coriander and a white pepper spice. Flavor is super spicy and this is where you get some of the orange peel. Finish is all of the spices left on the tongue. This was more spiced ale than anything Belgian but this was super tasty but could be an acquired taste.
