500ml bottle, batch 455. Rocky, off-white head that left great spotty lacing behind. Dark brown body, slightly unclear. Smell of chocolate malts added by tart fruits. Well-balanced bittersweet flavour of sweet, semi-roasted, dark malts offset by spruce and juniper. Moderate, dry bitter tail. A bit short on the swallow. Lots of Yuletide in this one. I’m glad I bought a few more bottles at Centra Colosseum, since this one should works as a perfect companion to the Norwegian meat dishes at Christmas, especially pinnekjøtt (hotel room, Oslo 15.12.2009).

50cl bottle, 21.09.09, batch #455, local K-market. Pours a dark brown colour, nice huge beige head. There is an aroma of roasted malt and dark fruits. Flavour is quite the same, roasted malts and some burnt sugar. Nice one.

Big beige-brown lasting head. Hazy opaque dark brown body. Hoppy floral pine needle aroma with roasty chocolatey notes. Lovely, full, and harmonic aroma. Dry pine needle and flowers taste with roasty chalky notes. Mid-bodied. Quite harmonic. Sharpish, faintly astringent mouthfeel. Dry pine needle and chocolate aftertaste with wooden resin notes. Very nice, and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle, Centra, Oslo. Rated twice in 2009, identical scores both times.)

500 ml bottle, batch #455, bought at Vaaland Spesialbutikken, Bryne. ABV is 4.5%. Cloudy dark brown colour, huge and creamy beige head. Nice aroma of lightly roasted malts and brown bread. The flavour has also moderately roasted malts and slightly burnt brown bread. Some burnt notes and a moderate hoppy bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Hints of liquorice. Okay, but I think the previous recipe was better?

Bottled @Konttori(brewed 210909 batch #455)
Dark brown color, medium-sized beige head. Aroma has typical Nogne O -yeast, clove, cold coffee and some hops. Medium-bodied, very good for 4,5% beer. Starts a bit caramelly, but then quite hoppy bitter with coffee roastyness. Six different malts are really playing tricks here. Long bitter aftertaste with traces of Nogne O house flavor. Interesting.
