Bottled. A deep red beer with a huge brown head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and some spices. The flavor is sweet with notes malt and nuts, leading to a very dry finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yngwie. Pours a clear orangey brown with an off-white head leaving some lacework. Hard roast nose with some vanilla and wood. Medium body, hard roast, a little ashy with some chocolatey sweetness. Dry finish with a very subdued bitterness. Very pleasant and quaffable. 280710

Flaske 0,5l spandert av Rune under kveld med gjengen 16.1.10. Mørk brun på farge. Nesten svart. Kraftig kremaktig skum. Karamellaroma. Smaken er søtlig med maltpreg. Litt syrlighet i ettersmaken. Grei til tung julemat.

500 ml bottle. Dark reddish brown body with a nice beige head. Aroma is malty with a little hint of roast. I think this year’s version has a bit more fruit and less caramel both in aroma and flavor, the hop profile is also more citric. Flavor is malt dominated and light roasted, just enough to give a hint of coffee, citric fruity and a balanced fruity bitterness. Medium body, and if not served to cold it gives a fine and smooth feeling. I my opinion the best Norwegian “low alcohol” Christmas brew alternative.

Bottle@Konttori, Tampere. Murky reddish brown colour, mediumsized beige creamy head, leaves some lace. Aroma is yeast, fruits, coffee, mild roasted malts as well as some slight caramelly notes. Flavour is caramel, some grassy and fruity notes along with some mild yeast and toasted notes. Cool and quite fullbodied for being only 4.5 %.

Bottle, #455. It pours a solid creamy, beige head, two-finger thick and lasting, leaving nice lacings as it sinks. Pleasant roasted nose with a good dash of citrusy, piney hops. Some anise blends in as well. A bit thin body, but not if you consider the strength of the beer. Nice carbonation level, and rather dry. Roasted malts leaves coffee flavors and hints of dark chocolate with little sugar, and even though there’s some sweetness in this one, it’s mostly dry. Good citrusy, piney hop flavor and also bitterness. Lasting finish with the roasted flavors pulling most of the load and the hoppy bitterness coming stronger at the very end. It might not be the ultimate christmas beer, but for a beer at this low abv, I’m very content. 091220
