Cask at Tom Browns, Dorchester. Pours chestnut brown with an off-white cap. Aroma: malt, caramel, toffee, hedgerow fruits. Taste: light sweet & light to moderate bitter. Light to medium body with light carbonation. Very dull, uber twigs

Pours a clear dark amber colour with almost no head. Aroma is sweet fruity malt and caramel. A sweet caramel malt taste, sweet fruit and a twiggy hop bitterness. Okay.

Tap at Swan Inn, Farnborough. 07/19/16. Nil aroma. Bright amber, equally bright white head. Fluffy, if sparse. Sweet with a bitter finish. Light bodied and slick. Sweet fruit and caramel. A straightforward bitter, but chugged it down.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 1/05/2011. Deep gold with a slight white head. Biscuity malt aroma with a touch of fruity sweetness. Flavour was dominated by show chewy malts, with a trace of caramel and decent bitter finish. Looking at the old ratings for the Goldfinch version of this beer, it seems similar. Good.

Cask at the brewpub. Clear, copper-colored bitter with a minimal beige head. Weak aroma with some maltiness. The flavor is the same. Thin body and a malty finish with just some bitter notes. Certainly drinkable, but a bit too boring. Nice place, though. (060711)
