Very dark amber color, close to black; not much carbonated, it produces just a thin layer of foam. The aroma is strange, it reminds me roasted turkey, and some spices (cinnamon and others, maybe cardamom and nutmeg). Quite good body strength; it has a solid caramel flavor, with a pleasant degree of sweetness, but almost spoiled by a light trace of spices; the bitterness is quite low now, but instead in the final it’s easier to notice an impression of liquorice. Funny Christmas beer, again, I can’t say it’s bad, but it’s surely not in my radar.

Bottle, courtesy of Papsoe. A hazy, ruby-colored beer with a small, tan head. Spiced, malty nose, quite meaty. The flavor is roasted and malty, some berry-like notes, but not in a sour way. Dry, full-bodied and a bit too flat. Chocolate and some coffee in the finish. I would like more hops in this one, even for Christmas, but it’s quite decent anyway. 100814

Hazy brown with a small off-white head. Spicy and herbal aroma with a bit of yeast. Sweet cookie spice flavour, getting a little cloying.

Bottled. An unclear brown beer with a huge fluffy tan head - extremely high head production could hint at an infection. The aroma has notes of sweet malt, but also an acidic edge and notes of caramel and spices. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of caramel, and medium notes of spices, cinnamon and coriander, and alcohol, leading to a lightly bitter finish. The alcohol tickles the top of the throat.

Bottled (thanks fonefan!). Deep brown colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is lots of spipces, yeast, earth and some caramel malts. Flavour is hops (fruity such), some chocolate, spices and mild notes of sour wood and ashes.

Bottled (BB 06/2009). Dark murky brown color, small steady and creamy beige head. Spicey nose: cardamon, clove and berries. Medium-bodied. Sweetish caramelly background with Christmas spicey flavors - clove and cardamon. Reasonably balanced and very Christmasy, but not really interesting.
