Rioja barrels remain the most favorite barrels to age our Barley Wine on. The maturation in these red wine barrels in combination with the tannins ensure that the full taste of the wine comes to the forefront. The characteristic Barley Wine flavors remain, although they are slightly toned down. A slightly dry aftertaste completes it all.

The better of the two train beers on the way home. Does what it should do; malty, rich, raisins and some light boozyness. Barrel adds wood, red fruit and tannins. Rioja is such a great barrel for these sort of beers.

23/IX/22 - on tap @ Borefts Day 1, BB: n/a (2022-1203) Thanks to all for sharing today’s beers!
Clear deep amber to red brown beer, small creamy off-white to light beige head, little stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: very earthy, leather, tobacco, dry, wood notes, malty, very intense, ok. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish start, funky, vanilla notes, caramel, pretty sourish, dry, a little bitter, some plum jam. Aftertaste: sourish and fruity, a bit sweet, caramel notes, a little bitter, dry in the finish, decent one!
