Bottle. Golden color. Dust, citrus and artificial rhum in the aroma. Sugary sweet flavor with lemon, dust, rubber and artificial rhum. Rather disgusting.

Bottle from B&M Bargains, Halifax. Tawny golden coloured with a small carbonation and a very thin head. The rum influence makes it a very sweet beer. Slightly skunky aroma and taste, but it is in a clear glass bottle so this may account for that.

Bottle at Craig’s. Smells like lemonade, hint of spice, sweet lemonade and lime aftertaste.

Now called Dead Crow Rum Flavoured Beer. One of those ’trendy’ but awful thin bland lagers ’pimped’ with liquor and sugar; yellowish white, regular but thin and very quickly dissolving head, colour orangey blonde (’old gold’), with quiet sparkling. Aroma very reminiscent of what in Flemish pub life is called ’baco’ (a cocktail of brown rhum with Coke), sticky sugary lemonade, a very, very faint graininess and something ’lightstruck’ (cat pee), strong and overpowering when opening the bottle but fortunately fading away quickly. Very sweet, cloying onset, very sugary and artificial, low carbonation, slick and thin mouthfeel, clear brown rum taste in the finish, but the sticky sweetness even dominates that; ’beer’, in the sense of malt and / or hops, is hardly noticeable at all and the rum extract has a slightly astringent effect. I believe this is even worse than Cubana ’59 or Desperados - and by establishing that, I cannot but conclude that this is effectively among the worst ’beers’ I have ever had the displeasure to taste. Truly horrible and to avoid at all times, unless you’re looking for an alternative to ’baco’ and do not like beer.

330ml bottle from B&M. Not much to say about this one. Aroma of lemonade. Taste has citrus, couldn’t taste beer or rum. Dull.

There seems to be a strong correlation between sweetened hybrid beer-drinks and tropical countries.... I wonder why is that? Someone must do a study! This has a pale golden body with minimal carbonation and almost no head. The aroma is hops bolstered by plenty of weird sugary sweetness, not suggesting rum, but rather beer-adjunct hell. The flavour is a weird bitters-taste of sweet leaves and hops. The rum and the hops are certainly not working well together! Like chewing on a lime with sugar wrapped in it. Where is the beer again? I wish I could say something for this other than absolutely revolting.
