Bottle, brewery web shop. Dark brown, almos black, smaller beige head, nonlasting. Moderate boozy nose, whisky, wood, some cocoa and chocolate. Medium bitterness, moderate sweetness with quite some alcohol warmth. Thinner body than expected. Definitely on the lower rank of Bevog's Hagger barley wines. Not bad, but you'd expect much more.

Assuming this is the right batch as that is what it was sold to me as by Hoptimaal. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small and short lived tan head. Palate is fairly light, mildly dry and has decent fine minerally carbonation. The malts are dark caramel with touches of cream and dark toffee, all of it playing second fiddle to the bourbon barrelling which is both obvious and rich. Fruity bourbon, rich ripe fruity bourbon with touches of sherry and cognac on the back end. This is a nice BBABW but I remember these Haggers being more diverse and complex in their barrel aged flavours. Still can't complain about the richness of this version.
