50 cl. bottle shared with Rick and Sjoerd @ Sjoerd. Very dark brown to black with a thin white head. Dark caramel with bourbon, chocolate and dried fruits. Sweet taste with a sweet syruppy finish. Fantastic sipper.

Bottled, huge thx Stefan! Murky brown, no head. Lovely aroma, caramel, fudge, cocoa and coconut notes, light light alcohol. Soft, creamy taste, caramel, coconut, light cellar/barrel touches, lightly warming. Excellent, well balanced, lovely.

Bottle. Brown color with tan ring. Aroma is big caramel toffee raisin, bourbon, cocoa, nice balance. Taste is the same, caramel, raisins, port, some oak tannins, not too sweet. Oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice!

One of several highly profiled Bevog barleywines, from a ‘chique’ bottle suitable for extended cellaring. Medium sized, opening, moussy, yellowish pale beige head, dark and misty bronze-tinged chestnut brown robe with burgundy edges. Alluring bouquet of caramel, fresh fig, vanilla-scenting oak and actual wet wood, candied dates, chestnut, blue plum, ripe Conference pear, hints of ripe blackberry, bayleaf and porcini. Sweet onset, yellow raisins, medlar, ripe pear and bursting ripe blackberry associations with a very thin porcini-like umami edge, gently carbonated with full and vinous mouthfeel. Lovely complex maltiness in its core, hinting at caramel, brown bread crust, pecan nut, toffee and even a dash of chocolate, with a very vague salty side effect at a certain point; caramelly sweetness prevails, though, even when woody tannins from the bourbon barrel add their drying effect, pushing vanilla-like notes upwards retronasally at the same time. Hints of blackberry, dried fig and medlar linger along with some vague clove-like phenolic spiciness, before a bittersweet bourbon warmth rounds things off in a subtle, elegant manner. Sweet ‘dark barleywine’, malt-forward but complex enough, with a refined use of bourbon barrel – nothing overpowering here, just perfectly integrated into the whole. The beer itself is as classy as the bottle from which it comes.

Bottle. Dark brown. Vanilla, toffee, alcohol, coconut, red wine, brown sugar, earthy, quite leathery. Over medium sweet, medium bitter. Almost full bodied, bit boozy finish. Nice!

Lots of stewed and dried fruits, some maple nutty sweetness. Better as it warms
