A recipe perfected throughout the years at the Porterhouse Brewery. This gently flavoured Stout has a roast malt character, a slightly bitter twist with a full bodied aromatic flavour thanks to the Goldings hops.

Taster at the KoP Yard House. Pours black, with a nice, frothy, beige head. The nose is light kahlua, peat, and caramel. Sweet and malty, with a faint, earthy bitterness. Light, foamy, and chalky. Subtle and kinda weak. Not bad.

500ml bottle from the Ale Stone, Aylestone, Leicester. Very dark brown and perhaps opaque with a ring of khaki head. The nose gives cherry chocolate and burnt malt. It's nicely balanced in the taste with a big malt bitterness encroaching on the sweet chocolate notes toward the finish. Tye holy is really disappo: thun, watery, flat. Overall its a good Irish stout although unlikely to be one you seek out.

On keg at Curfew, Berwick - Dark black body, small tan head. Roasted malts and coffee on the nose, malt forward taste, quite bitter finish. Nothing special to see here.
