Weißer Schaum, rubinrote Farbe. Hört sich irgendwie nach Hamburg an. Schon im frühen 13. Jahrhundert sollen Brauer hier ein Rotbier hergestellt haben. 1536 schenkte dann Joachim von Lohe sein feuerrotes Bier in St. Pauli aus, was eine ganze Bewegung in Gang gesetzt haben soll. Die Hamburger pilgerten in Scharen zu seinem Krug am Pepermölenbek. Eine ausgesuchte Spezialmalzmischung und der Aromahopfen Saphir machen unser Rotbier so rund und angenehm zu trinken. Auf Joachim! On tap at Altes Mädchen Ratsherrn Braugasthaus Hamburg. Pours clear amber with a light beige head. Bready malts and dry caramel on the nose. Flavour has dry caramel, bread crusts, dry grass. Pretty solid.

A taster at Dolden Mädel, Berlin. Shared with little Dina. Clear deep amber, small off-white head. Malty and fruity, dried fruit and berries. An unpleasant earthy hint of sour fruit, some dark cherry. Malty and fruity flavour, ripe fruit, earthy and herbal hops, quite bitter. Slightly messy, soft texture, medium body, dry finish.

Bottle. Clear red/brown with a righteous white head. Aroma is all red fruits and malts. Taste is caramel, red fruits (cherries mostly) and malts. A small dose of hops in the aftertaste. Medium carbonation. Nice enough.
