Prost!

Pours red into the bottle with a creamy head. Optically, quite pleasing. Aroma is caramel malt, sliced apple, and a bit of cherry. Taste is lightly malty, caramel, lots of cherry, a bit sweet, and the palate is fizzy. Second impression: if Dr Pepper were a beer, then this would be it. Actually interestingly sweet for a beer brewed to the Rheinheitsgebot (without actual sugar). Finish is short with cherry notes. Started off well, but the overall taste lost its appeal with me about mid-bottle. OK.

Bottle. Pleasantly malty, bitter and refreshing, but a bit watery altogether. Nice pine, though!

Nice smooth "red" beginning. Soft malt, hints of dryness and roast. Great combination on a highly drinkable basis. Nice soft malt, smooth. The bitterness is really low, nice malt. Great sessionable with a dry malty finish.

Keg at the brewpub, Hamburg, 16/07/15. Reddish amber with a decent light beige covering. Nose is biscuit, fruit peel, brown sugar, malt. Taste comprises rich caramel, biscuit malt, brown bread, dark fruit rinds. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok Vienna but ultimately it meant nothing to me !
