Ein klassisches bayrisches 🐄 Weizenbier, das sich angenehm trinken 🌊 lässt, ohne aber zu sehr in die Tiefe zu gehen. Mäßige Fruchtnoten und einfacher Ausklang.

Bavarian Hefeweizen by Radeberger-owned Allgäuer, at a restaurant in Frankfurt am Main; thanks Goedele for sharing! Medium thick, stable, shred-lacing, eggwhite head, misty apricot blonde robe with vague khaki tinge. Aroma of clove (strong), fried plantain, orange flesh, ripe pear, Cape gooseberry, banana bread, lemon zest, field flowers, dried mushroom touch. Estery onset, sweetish and sourish, banana, pineapple, orange and persimmon hints, moderately strong fine-bubbled carbonation through a slick wheaty body with typical 'deep' wheat sourishness and sleekness next to a bready barley side. Minerally and light earthy notes in the finish with returning phenolic clove and floral hops, the latter adding a brief grassy bitterishness but it is the wheat sourishness and estery fruitiness which prevail. I love a good Weissbier from time to time and this one certainly qualified, with some complexity, unexpected fruity notes and perfect balancing of flavours. A really good Hefeweizen in my book.
