Tap @ brewery. Dark brown color, cloudy. Only hints of bread and milk chocolate in the aroma. Thin to medium bodied. Watery mouthfeel. Soft roast flavor with raisinny notes. Slightly bready. Soft raisin and malt finish. Distant cellar flavor. Take your time drinking this beer, it is served way too cold.

Dark ruby. Rapidly vanishing bone-color head. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, cake, cola nut, fine butter, coffee. Mild, lightly bitter, short-lasting. Correct.

The other ’refter beer’ from tap at the monastery, the follow-up to the original Achel 5. Burgundy-coloured beer with thinnish off-white head; creamy, malty and caramelly with dried fruit notes, gentle herbal hop tone in the finish and somewhat thin body. Genuine and interesting for the simple fact that it is a trappist ale, but not worth driving to the monastery for.

Draught @ Achelse Kluis. Clear autumnal red-brown color, medium sized off-white to beige head that leaves fair lacing. Smell and taste malts, slightly metallic, nuts, a hint of caramel, a hint of dark fruits and it also reminds me of some sort of candy I used to get as a kid, but I have no idea what it was called. Average body, average to medium carbonation.
