Das bier paul 05 ist ein naturtrübes Altbier welches nach alter Brautradition hergestellt wird. Vor der Erfindung der Kühlmaschinen waren diese obergärigen Biere weitverbreitet. Heute hat Altbier seine Hochburg im Raum Düsseldorf.

Feinster Aromahopfen verleiht dem bier paul 05 das feine Bukett und die edle Bittere. Durch die Zugabe von Münchnermalz erhält das Altbier seine dunkelrote Farbe. Vergoren wird es mit spezieller, obergäriger Hefe, die ausschliesslich für diesen Biertyp verwendet wird.

Bottle coming from Staubi Getränk shop at Muri AG. Opening it two days ago with our home made pizzas. A classical one, of course, on the German way. A bit too weak with the aromas of dry malt, bread and toffee. This one is watery, final of classical hop. 16.09.2021

Bottle from Allen, thanks! Amber color, hazy. Pear fruit and a hint of caramel in the aroma. Caramel, nutmeg and pear in the flavor. Some residual sweetness. Hint of licorice.

Der Malzantrunk ist nur wenig aromatisch und kann nicht überzeugen. Er trocknet nun förmlich aus und hinterlässt eine klaffende Lücke, die durch kein anderes Aroma (welches denn auch?) gefüllt wird. Im Abgang sehr wenig bitter, entäuschend malzig und minimal säuerlich. 8/7/6/6/7/6

Bottled (thanks Bov!). Hazy pale nut brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma is earth, herbs, mould and dry wood. Flavour is wood, herbs, earth and mild grass. Not that nice.

Bottled (BB 03/2010)
Hazy amber color, small off-white head. Cardboardish, toffeish, butterscothy-diacetylic nose. Paper, yeast, ash, grains and malts in the flavor. Some hops in the aftertaste. Not much Altbier here.

Bottle 500ml. @ home.Light light unclear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet. light light acidic and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, nutty. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft.
