Belgian-Style Saison Ale

Our Spring Saison is light blonde in color with a fresh hoppiness and a wild and rustic Brettanomyces character. Lighter in color and alcohol than our Saison Rue, yet equally complex in its own way. Perfect for warmer weather and Spring celebrations.

Admin Note: Bruery has started to brew this beer again under the Bruery Terreux label.

750mL bottle, pours a murky orangey yellow with a medium white head. Aroma of lots of funk, brett, horse blanket and some lemon zest. Flavour is very funky, with loads of horse blanket, brett and lemon / orange zest, finishing with tons of funk and brett. Delicious saison.

0.75l bottle from mybrewerytap shared with The Tasting Crew. This one pours a nice cloudy orange-ish body, and it has a small lacing just off-white head. The aroma quite typical saison-ish with mild yeasty and leafy tones and subtle tones of lemon and some zest of both orange and lemon. It has a average carbonation level and a light slick oily mouthfeel. Nice mild and round saison flavors as well. It's light yeasty with a bit of citrus. It's really subtle except it has lots of flavor(?!). As I understood it there should have been some brett in her, but did not get any traces of that at all. Still, I really liked this one. 10.03.2012

Koriander, geringe Abschlussherbe. 1212/11/12/7/12

Sample at SBWF 2011. Bottle. Almost clear, light golden liquid with big off-white head. Aroma is funky with notes of lemons, apples, light sweetness, spices and wheat. Taste is dry, medium bitter and funky. Tasty. Light to medium bodied with high carbonation. Really tasty saison, nice and funky.

Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer almost exploded out of the bottle overflowing the glass immediately and I suffered some significant beer loss. It poured a cloudy apricot color with an enormous fluffy orange-cream head that towered over the glass, lingered forever and left copious lacing. The aroma was sweet and tart with strong notes of orange, lemon, pepper and the strongest yeasty/bready presence I have ever encountered. The flavor was very tart and dry with just enough sweetness to keep it from going overboard and elements of orange, lemon, funk, must, pepper and crackers. The finish was very long and the body was medium despite the heavy carbonation. Nicely done I just wish it was less of a gusher.

Bottle @ home. Mildly hazy orange appearance with a huge, foamy, off white head. Slight spicy yeasty, floral hoppy, light citrus aroma. Fairly floral, slightly bitter, bready yeasty, light citrus flavor.

75 cl bottle, no BBE information
Fresh aroma has some citrus and tart-like sourness. Flavour is refreshing too, with some sourness, spices and tart. Good bretta-saison for a hot summer day like this!

Bottle. Pours a murcky orangish straw color with a massive head and weak aromas of butterscotch, oranges and a little funk. Flavor is an interesting mix of butterscotch and sweet malt with oranges (I wonder if this is what others are pinning as \"citrus hops\") and brett funk. It’s maybe a little buttery for my taste, but still very nice.
