Can shared in London - picked up in a trade in the US. Pours oily black-brown with a frothy tan head. Charred malts in the nose, scorched pine, orange rind. Medium sweet flavor with oily bittersweet dark chocolate, ash, dry wood, dark berries, burnt toffee. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Hard ashy roast on the finish, more baking cocoa, scorched earth, oily dark fruits, torched pine. Great depth, good and punchy.

500mL can, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma brings out lots of roasted malt and dark fruits - great balance for an impie. Flavour is the same, with loads of roasted malt, light dark fruits and some dry cocoa. Full-bodied, roasty and dry chocolatey. Everything is done right here. Excellent impie.

Yeah, this is a black IPA, but what the hell. Can thanks to theepeeist. Pours opaque black with a medium dark brown head, creamy with nice lacing. Aroma is pine, spruce, roast, citrus. Flavor is medium sweet, roasty, anise, coffee, pine, spruce, citrus, chocolate. Medium bitter and a bit burned. Full body, creamy mouthfeel, lingering bitterness.

Can - Dark roast, piny hops and some coffee roast. Jet brown black with a rich little beige head. Roast malts, piney hops and a long bitter finish. Well balanced and really nice, surprisingly easy drinking.

Can from MrBarleywine, thanks for the opportunity Mike! Pours a solid black color with a decent sized frothy tan head that persists for a while. Aromas of pine and citrus dominate with a solid caramel and chocolate roastiness to counter. Light brown sugar and molasses with a hint of prune round out the nose. The flavor is chocolate and roasty up front before a huge does of citrus and pine sweeps in. Lingering hop bitterness and bits of roasted grain long after each sip. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and a creamy oily mouthfeel. Huge hops and lots of chocolate in this stout right here. The flavors are fairly simple, and the hops are a bit too present for my tastes, but it is a great drinking beer. I also would have liked just a touch more body, but I can make it work without that.

16oz can pours a murky black with some creamy, brick red head. Nose is really neat, smells like a stout obviously, toasted, dried cocoa nibs, some molasses, a little coffee grounds, bread crust, but there is also a distinct hop aroma to it with some dried pine and a little bit of soap, almost a little unripened peach. Flavor is dark chocolate, molasses, burnt toast, coffee grounds, lightly smokey, a little earthy, but then the hop kicks in with some orange peel, a little peach, a little pine. Full bodied, sticky, lightly bitter finish. One of the more aggressively hopped stouts I’ve had.
