The label on the 33 cl bottle instructs “Drink it…while listening to an old, crackling vinyl jazz record” I’ve got Birdland from Weather Report cued up and ready to play. A quadrupel I obtained from Smaakhuis, the cap is off and I pour inside of my large Straffe Hendrik snifter. A dark coffee brown liquid with a very fine skim of eggshell tan foam. The nose has the classic quad vibe of ripe fruit, grain, malt and yeast. I lift the glass and have a drink. Nice. Raisins, leather, malt, a touch of syrup, brown bread, candi sugar, chocolate, subdued vanilla, dates and dark chocolate. Flavorful, chewy and a bit bitter. A good quad makes me smile.

Very dark brown with quick fading head. Aroma has quite a lot of pear drops. Like a La Trappe. Flavour has liquorice and some candy. Luckily no noticeable cinnamon.

Bottle at home. Dark brown color, dark red hue coming through when held into the light. Medium sized beige head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, raisins, light iron. Flavor is malts, soaked raisins, brown malts, lightly some oxidition. Finishes with a mix of sweet and bitter notes. Not a bad attempt I'd say, but it needs some work.
