Brewed with Pilsner and Cystal malts massively hopped in in the continuous fashion. The flavor is complimented by the addition of Apricots. After fermentation the beer is dry hopped with irresponsible amounts of Amarillo hops.

Bottle. Light malt, fruit, and brown sugar aroma. Amber with a minimal off white head. Flavor was fruity (although I wasn’t really able to distinguish apricot specifically until it warmed), hops, and caramel malt. Medium body and light carbonation. Decent brew, but not sure why everyone goes so apeshit over this one.

Well this one called to me at the store this week, beckoning me with the tag line "A serious India Pale Ale brewed with real apricots." Pours a clear deep golden color reddish/orange hues, with a thinnish off white head that dissipates quickly. Smells of apricots, sulfur, hay or grass, not very remarkable. Taste is a little sweet, tart and fruity, but not much IPA here. Leaves a tart fruity almost caramel taste on my tongue. Medium high level of carbonation, slick/sticky mouthfeel, medium body. 7% alcohol is well hidden. Nothing offensive here, but it doesn’t work for me. Maybe apricots aren’t my favorite fruit, but I was reeled in with the serious IPA pitch, and IPA this ain’t.

Good idea, not the finest execution. Spiky carbonation and unexpected alcohol heat mar the texture, and I’m not happy with the use of such piney hops when a nice citrus-n-grapefruit flavor would greatly complement the fruitiness. The apricot grows stronger as the beer warms, but its sweetness really doesn’t mesh well with the dry finish. Weird thing is, some people go batshit insane for this brew, which I could understand if the feel were easier, or the hops lighter. I find it interesting enough to try, but I’m fairly certain the rest of the four-pack will be pawned off on unsuspecting visitors.

Pours fairly clear amber with a orange hues, with large white head that shrank to a thin layer. Aroma is malt, apricot and light grapefruit hops. It’s a nice blend of those three flavors, none of which is overbearing. Flavor is similar, good caramel malt backbone with a fresh, not too ripe apricot bite, and it finishes long and bitter. It’s well balanced. Not a bad beer but not something I would re-visit.

Bottle@ Hotelroom, Denver. Pours a dark golden with a creamy offwhite head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, apricot, caramel. Taste is pine, grapefruit at first, apricot finish. Medium body, low carbonation. Nice beer. 140311

12 oz bottle into flute. Pours a hazy orange hue (like apricot juice) with a thick head that recedes pretty quick, leaving a collar of foam and spidery lacework. Aroma is very much like a straight IPA, one of those that have a peachy aroma--which is pretty similar to the way apricots smell. Taste is bittersweet, with an undertone of apricots. Tastes much more like it belongs in the IPA category rather than the fruit beer category. Almost all IPAs have some some kind of fruit character; this beer is like any of those. The apricot is definitely pronounced, but not any more than most Pac-NW IPAs taste like grapefruit. Carbonation is medium to high, body is medium. Nice beer.

Bottle, thanks as always to Steve in NJ. Dark golden pour with a mid sized white head. Pleasant aroma of fragrant hop and apricot. Not my most favourite fruit but this works well. Excellent hoppage and great balance. An interesting and very refreshing fruit beer that is well worth a try.

Keg at The White Horse American beer festival, Parsons Green , London. Dark amber coloured pour with a small off white head. Aroma of apricot, citrus fruit, hops. Tastes fruity, hoppy, slight sweetness, no bitterness. Quite a well made fruit beer but I probably won’t drink it again.

12 oz bottle. Pours orange amber with an off-white head. Aroma has lots of pine and grapefruit along with the apricot. Flavor is also grapefruit hops with the apricot flavor blending in, with some piney hops in there as well. Biscuity maltiness in the finish. Not much bitterness: it’s overshadowed by the apricot’s sweetness. In the end, a decent beer that demonstrates the pleasant blending of apricot and hops, but the sweetness and lack of bitterness in an IPA is disappointing.
