Some people get excited about sneaker drops or digital pictures of apes that are money for some reason. Breweries? They get excited about hops. The Idaho 7® hop, developed by our friends at Jackson Hop Farms, bridges the tropical/citrus divide with striking notes of melon, pineapple, tangerine, and red berries. Hypermodern IPA centers Idaho 7® for a thoroughly unique and drinkable IPA. Believe the hype.

12oz can. Bright, orange-juice hop tone. Not a lot of bitterness, pretty much a straightforward juicy IPA 6-pack level. Not bad, not really that good either. Drinkable, but middle of the road in most all respects.

Sampled from the tap at Malcom Yards. Pours a near clear gold with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has light citrus and a bit of rind with grass and light grain underlying. Flavor has citrus and rind with growing grass plus some resin.

Aromas are malt, with some resin and a little weed for hops. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, slightly on the sweet side but with some bitter and just enough carbonation to balance. Decent but not one of their best.

12 ounce can from Woodman’s Appleton, 3/15/22. Very hazy orange, not quite murky. Large frothy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of mango and pineapple. Taste is pineapple, mango, tangerine, pale malt. Juicy, mild bitterness. Solid.
