The summer sun hits different where we’re from. The warm rays are the hard-earned reward for our brutal winters, and we cherish them just a little bit more. Surly salutes those Invisible Rays with this tropical IPA full of pineapple and guava notes and just a kiss of lactose. Summer isn’t endless here, but you’ll wish this beer was. Note: Brewed with lactose.

First up: Surly Invisible Rays Tropical IPA 7% Rich hop bouquet, sweet stone fruits. Full bodied with a peach/plum/apricot tropical flavor. Sweet but with a touch of boozy heat in the finish. To me it doesn’t scream tropical but it’s damn good.

The Aromas are mildly Citrus, resin and pineapple hops. While flavors aren't so hot. Some medicinal and other odd flavors. Just barely drinkable. Decent body and carbonation with medicinal finish.

12 ounce can from Festival Northland, 8/26/21. Hazy orange, large frothy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of dank, lime, pineapple. Taste is lactose, pineapple, tropical fruit. Good, but, why does every fucking thing have to have lactose? Are we trying to freeze lactose intolerant people out of the craft beer scene?
