The history of A. Le Coq dates back to 1807. 200 years of experience have helped us find the secret of the good taste of beer. A. Le Coq Special is the crown jewel of A. Le Coq beers. The caramel fullness in the perfect taste of Special is well balanced with the elegant special hops. Special is a deep yellow lager with a unique hoppy aroma.

500ml bottle, brought from Tallinn to our Baltic Beer rating session in Tromsø 27. Oct.2009. Clear light golden body, spare lacing and head that are reduced to a filmy layer. Lemon and lime to the nose, and has an additional taste of strong tea. Dry finish. Still, I give an extra point for the design: you can use the bottom as a bottle opener

Thanks to Elisabeth and Stefan for bringing a 500ml bottle back home from Tallinn for sharing. Film-type head with fragile lacework on the glass. Clear golden body. Dry, light smell of pale malts. Tea-like flavour with sweet citric hints. Rounded mouthfeel. Low carbonation level (rating session in Tromsø, 27.10.2009).

Bottle. A clear golden beer with a small, white head. Pale malts and some fruityness on the nose, quite weak, with a sweetish touch and a hint of pinecones. Sweet flavor with pale malts and some fruityness. Medium body, almost sticky-sweet. Sweet, malty finish failing to let the hops put its bitterness in front. Decent, boring, too sweet. (090228)

The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass looks terrible. Very ugly foam. Tastes washy, constant vapid. Finish a bit malty, but very boring. Not a good beer!

50cl Bottle- Brewed to celebrate the brewery’s 200th ’anniversary’. The colour is golden and it has a faint, grassy aroma. A slight citrus hint but there is hardly any flavour to this and it tastes very bland. How sad it is that they did not brew anything more imaginative to mark their 200th anniversary. They have just added a mediocre pilsner style beer to their portfolio which already has its fair share of pilsners of real mediocrity.

Bottled (BB 12/2007)
Golden color, good creamy white head. Very light malty nose. Medium-bodied. Clean, a bit sweet malty characterless beer. Light sweet corn-like aftertaste. Nothing special here.
