From holiday pack. Still kinda testing if taste buds fully recovered. Orange pour. Nose is candy and brandy. Tastes of plum, orange, medicine, candy, hooch. Thinner bodied. Some sweetness.

Florals and some light candy cane. Booze. Not a lot of character here. Hazy brown pour without much head. Sweet boozy end. Can from mixed case.

12 ounce can from Festival Lacrosse, barely into 6/29/21. Hazy orange, large fizzy head, good retention. Aroma of banana, plum, dates, candi sugar. Taste is tart cherry, plum, brown sugar, banana. Booze well hidden, mildly present. A bit thin for the style. Overall, pretty nice.

The arrows are belgian-style sweet malt with some candy sugar. Very short-lived fizzy head. Bittersweet with good carbonation but simplistic. seems to be like most American Belgian style beers that are not double fermented. Clown shoes used to be pretty good and then they met harpoon management.

Can (best by 1/31/21) pour from Christmas pack from the Lazy Dog Beer Shoppe. Appearance is deeply hazy light brown with no discernible sparkle, no head and no lacing. Aroma is mild-to-moderate holiday spice, mild fruit. Taste is holiday spice, brown sugar and caramel. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, somewhat watery texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, BAIT AND SWITCH! This is NOT the listed version. Alcohol is down from 10.5 to 8.0. How can that not make a difference? This is true to style but a pathetically mild version. I feel duped. SKIP! This was part of a share and I feel embarrassed to have served this. Shame on you, Clown Shoes--you have lost a client.

12 oz. can shared by tfontana. Thanks Tom. Part of the Christmas 12- pack. I said it before and I’ll say it again, Harpoon ruined Clown Shoes. Another shell of a beer. Aroma is Belgian yeast and soft orange peel. Flavor is a shell of a Belgian Quad. Flavor is a quad it’s just really thin and watery.

Can from the 12 Beers of Christmas Pack - Day 09. Poured a clear yellow-orange color with a small, off-white head. Aroma was Belgian yeast, with some candi. Flavor was fruity yeast. Okay.

December 2020. 12oz can. 8%. Really low ABV for a Quad. Drinks more along the lines of a classic Abbey Ale type thing, think Ommegang, perhaps a little less depth. Pleasantly attenuated, big fruity yeast tone. All around nice balance. Not really a Quad, but a nice beer.

Two positive intros here. One was Clown Shoes. And the other was Belgian Style Quadrupel Ale. I got this 22 oz bomber at The Cellar in Odessa recently and am now second in line to review. Time to proceed of course on this 420 day. I lift the cap off and pour into my Chimay glass. The body is an attractive lightish amber with the top showing a thin, eggshell brown with steady replenishment. It has a fine nose, yellow plum, cane sugar, meadow. And now a sampling, dark raisin, biscuit, nectarine, some yeastiness, malt. All with a decent spiciness and an ending bitter touch. Not the top American quad I have tried but pretty doggone good.
