Reddish brown color. Vinous aroma with plums and raisin. Syrupy sweet, oaky with raspberry notes and vanilla. Extremely malty., but also with a dry out effect in the finish. A firm hop character in the aftertaste. Good!

Cloudy dark brown beer, residual off white head. Softish palate, slightly dry. Sweet well fermented malt! Lovely Port wine tones - rich red wine with a trace of cherry and black fruits. Alcohol is barely noticeable. Smooth finish. Very rich and very tasty - lovely!

Courtesy of madmitch76, thanks Ken. The little 25cl 2011 bottle pours clear deep copper with light tan head. The aroma is yummy inviting sweet caramel, molasses, prunes and dates as well as a touch of scorched toffee. Wow! Deep rich aroma that breaks the will of the aromatic sampling beer geek and forces a quick hurried sip well ahead of schedule. The taste is pleasingly the same with chewy rich caramel candy, molasses, prunes and earthy dates. Wow, the booze is way in the background for this big beer. Yes, this is rich sweet delicious English style barleywine. Love it!

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin rim of orangey head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, candy sugar, alcohol, and yeast. The flavor is sweet with notes of thick candy sugar, over ripe fruits, alcohol, and yeast, leading to a sweet and dry finish.

Bottle. Nice creamy head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are fruits, nuts, alcohol and malt. Nice and warming. Had it for a year before it was drunk.

Dark brown-amber color, no head. It has malt aroma and strong malt and caramel flavor, soft nuts, very sweet; it reminds me of Thomas Hardy, but sweeter, without complexity; it seems to be correctly bitter and there is a touch of alcohol too. I can foresee the perplexity of many drinkers, but I like sweet malt stuff.
Strange that tasted side to side with their Imperial Stout this one has no carbonation (which is not a bad thing for me) while the Imperial Stout has too much.

batch T9, #23. 25cl. clear dark brown, no head, just a few bubbles. strong aroma of toffee, caramel, stale hops, lots of malts, clearly a barley wine - of the "old beer" style, the style i don’t really like a lot, but this one do have a very nicely balanced aroma. smells good. flavor is extremely!! sweet malty, syrupy, honey. sweetest barley i ever tasted, hops are battleling to join the party but fail. some real nice bitterness is instead balancing the sweetness. take a sip. yuck how sweet it is, then you swallow and the sweetness is washed away with a delicious bitterness, and you are fooled into taking another sip. nice work, but goddamn extremely sweet. alc well hidden.
