Some nice roasted malt in the aroma. More dark malt flavour in this one compared to many other Altbiers.

Bottle: Clear, amber coloured, small and stable off-white head, (sweetish) toasty nose, lost grassy hops underneath plus a certain subdued fruitiness; mild sweetish-bitter flavour, pretty light bodied; sweetish and mild bitter finish. A bit bland, but at least roasty and - nothing wrong with it…

50cl bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Clear amber to dark ruby red color, big off-white head that diminishes quickly. Don’t smell much, just moderately malty with some hay. Taste a lot of malts, grains, dust, straw. Low body, low to medium carbonation.

Gelungenes Alt! 7/12/12/11/4/11

(bottle) Clear, chestnut colour with a big and beige, also quite firm foamy head. Slightly sweet, ashy and leafy malty aroma with notes of caramel, a whiff of liquorice and slightly herbal hops. Moderately bitter and slightly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with an almost crispy carbonation. Crusty malty with notes of dark bread, caramel and some herbal hoppy spots; moderately dry and bitter finish with roasted malt character and lighter herbal hops, also a tinge of metal. Much better than expected. 29.XI.09
